Geotechnical Investigations
Geotechnical Investigations are performed to determine important subsurface engineering properties for use in the design phase of a development project. Soil properties such as bearing capacity, cohesiveness, shrink and swell tendencies, and moisture can drastically affect the costs associated with site preparation and construction.
Epic will perform the following in preparation of a Geotechnical Investigation Report:
- Mobilize to the subject property and install multiple soil borings for testing, using conventional and non-conventional drilling techniques.
- Collect one or more bulk soil samples of site material for laboratory testing of pertinent geotechnical properties including dry density and California Bearing Ratio.
- Observe general site conditions for evidence of potential issues including drainage, settlement, organic material, soil erosion or other site-specific situations.
- Prepare and discuss with client a property condition report. The property condition report will contain figures, tables and laboratory analytical results that document the fieldwork performed. The property condition report will also summarize and explain our recommendations for sub grade stabilization, fill placement, foundation design, pavement design, and quality control.
Each Geotechnical Investigation is site and client specific and can vary from project to project. A more detailed scope of work will be prepared after review and discussion regarding site-specific needs.
